Do Not Bag Leaves This Autumn - Leaf Collections Change Of Procedure

I’m delighted to welcome the new procedure for collecting leaves that has been introduced by South Dublin County Council. Not only will the new procedure be more efficient but also more environmentally friendly for the County.
This year there will be a change to the way leaves will be collected, which will be more beneficial to residents. Oxigen Environmental has received a contract from South Dublin County Council, to sweep leaves from paths and roads between September and January. Their schedule will be based on reports received so if any residents think their road or area needs to be swept, they can contact the South Dublin County Council Public Realm Section at 01 4149000 as soon as possible.
Last year I saw many residents of the County sweep up leaves and put them in bags for collection. Collecting leaves is something that takes time and effort and residents who helped collect leaves last year have to be commended. Thankfully this new procedure will result in residents no longer having to take the time to bag leaves and our streets will be cleared much quicker.
If anyone is completing a community clean up and want to sweep up the leaves, they are asked to sweep them on to an area away from drains/gullies on the path or road and to contact the Social Credits Section at 01 4149000 ext 2791 and the Council will arrange for Oxigen Environmental to call out.
South Dublin County Council will no longer be collecting bagged leaves, so it’s important that residents are aware of this new procedure that will be of benefit to residents.
